Kozuke Daijo Sukesada born 1633 titled Kozuke Daijo in 1664. Died 1721, aged 89.
He made kanbun-shinto-sugata with shallow sori & normal mihaba also
less tapering sugata with deep sori & extended chu-kissaki in the
style of Genroku Era.
He often made sugata with thick kasane & occasionally forged dense &
visible Ko-itame Hada with Ji-nie & chikei.
It is speculated that Sukesada of Shinto times represented by Kozuke
Daijo Sukesada follwed Sukesada of Sue-Bizen school. They favoured to
temper fukushiki - gunome and tempered Sugu-Yaki -Dashi that is not
seen in the Hamon of Sue-Bizen smiths. Their Sugu-Yaki-Dashi becomes
wider as it goes upward like the sugu-Yaki-Dashi of the Osaka Shinto
smiths.
As seen in the reference Oshigata, Fukushiki-gunome of Kozuke Daijo
Sukesada has a certain pattern {round gunome with Ko-gunome & Ko-
Ashi, split Yaki-Gashira or Yahazu-Ba}.
The Boshi of Kozuke Daijo Sukesada becomes sugu {occasionally
Midare-komi} then turns back to Ko-Maru.
Polish on this Katana is original & has been cleaned and serviced to
remove detridus & expose Hamon for inspection. Minor edge mark micron
size midway down the blade edge, its clearly tasted blood, its stable
all acids removed & when oiled will remain so.
